Big news on the smartphone 3D modeling front, Polycam is now compatible with the Apple Vision Pro. It’s early days, but this already seems like a match made in heaven. A LiDAR and photogrammetry app that already featured AR functionality, integrated with a headset built around the same technology? Perfect!
With the app already on iOS, it’s sure to perform similarly well on a Mac Virtual Display. So, even if you’ve not got one of Apple’s fancy new headsets, keep an eye out for the applications of this particular pairing. It won’t be long before we see users capturing and arranging objects all around them in a ‘virtual sandbox’ that unlocks all sorts of creative opportunities.
It’s also worth noting that Polycam has raised $18 million in funding from YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley and Adobe. It’s understood that this capital will go into the development of new AI models for rendering, 3D editing and collaboration features, and a business expansion.
Sounds like Polycam is advancing on all fronts! Discover Polycam for Apple Vision Pro here.
