ADNOC reveals Oil & Gas digital warehouse with over 3,500 spares

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) division ADNOC Gas has established a huge digital library to support its spare part 3D printing efforts.

With over 3,500 models, the online repository is one of the largest of its kind. 3D printable on-demand, these critical components are expected to save the firm $50 million by 2028.

Digital warehousing will help ADNOC Gas achieve this by reducing the machine downtime caused by missing spares and cutting production lead times by 50%. Already in use at ADNOC Gas’ Das Island and Habshan sites, 3D printed components are said to eliminate the need for overseas shipping, slashing both CO2 emissions and inventory-related costs.

“3D printing provides an advanced digital solution for designing and producing components, optimizing the company’s supply chain, enhancing performance, and reducing running costs,” explained ADNOC Gas CEO Dr. Ahmed Alebri. “It enables the creation of complex geometries and precise features impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing.”

One of the parts 3D printed on Das Island is known to be a replacement air compressor impeller – a complex, high-value rotating part. Hundreds of other components have also been 3D scanned and uploaded at the firm’s Habshan facility for metal or plastic 3D printing.

The project itself is being carried out alongside Immensa, a well-established player in the digital warehousing space, which has 3D printed over 150,000 parts for customers to-date.

Moving forward, ADNOC Gas aims to push ahead with 3D printing, AI, and other advanced technology integration, in pursuit of further manufacturing efficiency gains.
