Spain has been selected to serve as the official partner country for this year’s edition of Formnext, the world’s leading event for additive manufacturing and next-gen production technologies. As a rapidly growing AM market and a bridge between Europe and South America, Spain adds a fresh dynamic to Formnext 2025.
The Iberian AM sector has been consistently present at Formnext, with around 30 Spanish companies participating in 2024. “We’re thrilled to be hosting such an incredibly exciting partner country and all its innovative AM firms,” said Sascha F. Wenzler, Formnext vice president at Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. “Spain is a perfect example of how AM drives growth and innovation, even in challenging times.”
Strategic partnerships
The country’s AM industry is experiencing speedy expansion, employing over 1,200 people and recording double-digit annual growth. According to Wohlers Report 2024, Spain accounts for 1.5% of the 3D printers installed across the globe. Despite the market’s small size, it is incredibly diverse, featuring globally renowned system manufacturers such as HP Printing and Computing, Meltio, Triditive, Reinforce 3D, and Supernova, as well as material producers, software developers, specialized service providers, and research institutions.
Key Spanish industry players, ADDIMAT 3D Printing association and the AM network IAM3DHUB, will provide partner support at Formnext 2025. Essential stakeholders in Spain’s AM industry, they will showcase the potential of their country’s AM landscape and drive technological evolution through effective networking. Operating under the umbrella of AFM Cluster, ADDIMAT represents over 100 companies spanning the entire AM value chain. Founded in 2014 to promote additive manufacturing in Spain, ADDIMAT provides customized services to strengthen the sector. IAM3DHUB, in turn, serves as a strategic hub for companies adopting AM, offering expertise in feasibility studies, training, and implementation. Based in Barcelona and operated by Leitat, it also supports Catalonia’s ambition to be a leading center for Industry 4.0.
